Cream

So much of "real" photography is listening to your instincts and following your intuition and vision. I forget wich photographer said something to the effect that all photographs either lead to a "blind alley" or somewhere glorious. It's easy to see a finished photograph and admire the ease with wich was created, but most people seldom see or realize the years of toil and work that went behind producing such work. To be continued..

Poem

I have been banging my head against the wall for so long, that finaly the blood is starting to trickle and gather all around me. I am elevated, and risen where I can see everything both near and far.. "vision" a gift or curse?

Little Secrets

For some years now, I have been shooting several rolls (5-6) of black and white film (usualy Tri X400 or T max 100) per week. Usualy the subject matter involves my everyday routine or just casual documentary of whatever I happen to be doing at the time. These rolls sometimes get processed right away or put into a plastic bag where they get randomely mixed up with other rolls. I have close to 100 rolls right now that include travels to the Caribbean, my dogs, pornstars, photos taken while driving and myriad of other subject matter.

Haunted

I was telling someone recollections of one of one of my old studios. This one was in a huge warehouse dowtown Miami, years before that area started getting gentrified. The space is now (ironicaly enough!) a club named Space.

Back when I had the place, there were nothing but crackheads and homeless people on the street. I lived there sometime without electricity and at night it was scary as fuck.

When I look back at how many studios I have had and how much money I have spent in rent, I could own a castle in Wales by now. So it goes.. our dreams often surpass our own means.
Wealthy, but in photos and memories.

The Brutality of Fact

I have mixed feelings about these photos.
Most importantly or annoyingly this is my first blog, so one is apt to want to say something profound...

I had been corresponding with "Nat"via e-mail and phone for several weeks trying to set up the details of this shoot. I first made contact with her when I noticed her travel post on a popular modeling site that I am a member of.

Initial contact was good and arrangements were made over the following weeks to meet her at my "studio" during her whirlwind visit to South Florida. I made the requisite arrangements and sent her a specific list of clothing items and accessories that I requested she bring for the shoot. Specificaly I was looking for some shiny black vinyl type pants to match a specific black feather type coat I have.

Arrangements were made with a new makeup artist/stylist that had been recomended by another model. This was to be the first shoot I would be doing with a model who had an "escort" in tow, wich I had mixed feelings about.

So everything is going well right up to the day of the shoot.
First, the makeup artist never shows or calls. Secondly, when the model shows up, she looks noticebly older then on the site where I booked her and she does not have one stich of wardrobe that we agreed she would bring, but rather a suitcase with some rumpled clothing.

Welcome to the world of internet modeling where.. nothing is what it seems.
I managed to shoot about 4 rolls of film, before she had to quickly depart for the airport and although I have looked at the results time and time again, I am totaly baffled by the results.
